Signs Tree Trimming Should Be Done

by Chiara Brun

Is it time to trim your trees? Some homeowners have a schedule with their tree trimmer who comes out and takes care of the trimming. Then, there are other homeowners who are laxer when it comes to having their trees trimmed as they tend to wait until they see it's time for their trees to be trimmed. If you want the peace of mind knowing that your trees will have the best shot at remaining healthy and not becoming problematic, then it's a good idea for you to work with the tree trimmer to come up with a good schedule. Otherwise, the examples below can explain some of the things you may notice happening that can let you know it's time to get the tree trimmer out.

The grass in the shade of the trees is dying

If your grass is healthy throughout the yard, but it's starting to look brown in the areas where it is in the shade from the trees, then this means that the grass isn't getting enough sunlight because the trees are too full. A tree trimmer will thin out the trees, allowing the sunshine to reach the grass and providing it with the nutrients it needs to become healthy and green again.

The trees are producing a lot of small fruit

If you have fruit trees and you find that they are giving you more fruit than you would normally expect, and that fruit is smaller than normal, then have the tree trimmer come out. As the fruit trees become crowded with branches, they will naturally bear more fruit. However, the fruit you get from the trees will likely be smaller and it won't taste as good. Once the tree trimmer comes out and gets rid of the excessive branches, then you can once again enjoy large and tasty fruit. Additionally, you won't find yourself cleaning up fruit in the yard that is just going to waste and increasing the chances of you ending up with certain pests and wildlife problems, such as having raccoons.

It's late winter

If it is late winter and you still haven't had your trees trimmed for the season, then you should go ahead and have the tree trimmer come out while they are still dormant. This is the best time for you to have them trimmed because they will heal faster during this period and this will help them to stay stronger and healthier.

About Me

Avoiding Common Tree Mistakes

I have always been one of those people who isn't afraid to get their hands dirty, which is why I started trimming my own trees. However, after doing it by myself for a few years, I realized that my yard was starting to look a little DIY, which wasn't the look that I was going for. To make things right, I decided to invest in a professional tree service who could come out and fix up my yard. They were amazing to work with, and they even came with all of their own equipment. This blog is all about the benefits of professional tree care, versus doing things on your own.
